Shims

  • The Shims are designed to fill in the hollows often found alongside the withers of the horse, just behind the shoulder.

  • The Shims are especially helpful for horses with tall withers, that need fill alongside the withers to provide even contact between the top of the horse’s back and the underneath surface of the saddle.

  • Shims are very commonly used with the Konklüsion and Carlton saddles, in place of the Forelift pad.

  • Shims can be used in combination with the DS pad to accommodate your horse’s conformation if the horse has a prominent spine  and tall, narrow withers.

  • Shims may be glued together to provide more padding or may be secured to the DS pad with Velcro if additional pads are needed to fill in the hollow beside the wither.

  • One shim may be used alone to compensate for uneven muscular development, and in order to balance the saddle for the rider.
